I travelled to Saltburn the day before and stayed at SaltburN House Hotel, just about half a mile from the trail. I had plenty of time for a wander on the sea front followed by fish ad chips that afternoon.
The hotel left me a continental breakfast out the night before so I could get an early breakfast. After some tea and toast I set off around 7 am.
Once I got on the trail behind the Ship inn the sighnposting for the rest of the day was excellent. For the first couple of hours I was walking directly into a low sun with no clouds in the sky.

The sun just coming up. The start of a brilliant days walking.
After leaving Saltburn the day was a series of cliff top sections which then dropped down to seaside villages before climbing back up to the cliff path. The sequence was :-
- Saltburn
- Skinningrove
- Staithes
- Port Mulgrew
- Runswick Bay
- Sandsend
The miners bait tin sculpture at Boulby
Skinningrove Highest point on the East Coast. Boulby Cliffs
Coming into Staithes Looking back at Staithes
Runswick Bay Leaving Runswick Bay Sandsend coing into view I arrived in Sandsend at about 3 PM ,. The Beach Hotel was on the front directly on the trail.
A fabulous days walking. About 18 miles.
