Dewent Edge 21st April 2014

A day off from Greenhouse construction.....whoop whoop.

This walk was a longer variation to the one I have done before. It was slightly longer in that I continued on after back tor onto Lost Lad and down to the top end of  the upper Derwent Reservoir.

I parked at the first (free)car park alongside Ladybower. The route from there was :-

A57 - Ladybower Bridge
Whinstone Lee Tor
Derwent Edge
Back Tor
Lost Lad
Upper Derwent Reservoir
Derwent Dam
Fairholmes
Back along Ladybower to the car

Salt Cellar

Cakes of Bread

Lost Lad

A fantastic varied walk. A nice flat bit to start and end the walk. a decent climb up to Whinstone Lee Tor, and a magnificent walk along Derwent Edge with superb views.

Pen Y Fan 13th March 2014

My last trip to South Wales for a while so another opportunity to visit the Brecon Beacons. This time in glorious sunshine. I didn't arrive at the Storey arms car park until 2.30 , so I was limited to a short walk.

I did the exact reverse of the one I did in December.

Corn Du - Pen Y Fan and then back down to the forestry car park.

The Brecon Beacons really is a spectacular place.

Kinder Scout Sunday 9th March

First time this year on the Holy Ground - Kinder Scout.

I went up the classic way - Grindsbrook Clough - as usual a glorious way up in beautiful mild , sunny weather. However, I managed to find a different way down. I walked along the edge and then to Grindslow Knoll. From there , instead of the left hand fork down into Edale I took the right hand path which brought me down a steep bank eventually meeting the Pennine way near Upper Booth.  From there - back into Edale.

End of the road , and start of the walk

Who is this man ?

On the edge- What a beautiful view

Lose Hill - Mam Tor Saturday 22nd February 2014

I have been so busy last few months since December that I haven't done many walks or blogging so today (17th April) is catch up day.

This is a walk I have done several times. Castleton - Lose Hill - The Great ridge - Mam Tor - Cave Dale - Castleton.

First sunny day for weeks of a long wet winter. A great walk with Richard , which definitely cleared out the cobwebs.
