Another epic day. Heavy rain all day, and high winds and clag over Grisedale Tarn.
Borrowdale to Patterdale. 4 less miles than yesterday but it took me 9.5 hours as opposed to yesterday's 10 hours. The weather made an already tough hike into a real challenge.
The 4 sections of the hike were :-
- Borrowdale - Greenup edge
- Greenup edge - Grasmere via Grasmere common.
- Grasmere - Grisedale tarn
- Grisedale tarn to Patterdale
So two steep climbs and two tricky descents with numerous water crossings. Many of the paths resembled streams. No matter how good your kit is the water eventually gets through. All my inner layers (shorts t shirt and socks) were soaked well before the end.
Great stay at Shepherds Crook bunkhouse in Patterdale. Had a good chat with two german women who were staying there and also doing the c2c. Not too many pics today due to the wet weather.
