Not much sleep overnight and a very sore/stiff left ankle. I got up early, put an ankle support on and took my time cooking breakfast, clearing up and packing. By the time I was rady to go I felt that I could walk off the ankle stiffness and hopefully have another good day.
I decided to walk out of the village on the road to avoid the slippery steep path up to the ridge. I reckoned this would save me wet feet (and possibly a wet back side) within the first 30 mins of the day. The cost was possibly an extra 2 miles to get back on the ridge . This mean't repeating the last bit of yeaterdays walk.
The quickest way back up to the ridge and Warren Farm is up the bank on the path labelled Minster Way.
Lovely walk today passing close to Huggate, through Fridaythorpe and through more picuresque dry valleys.

Cross Keys - Home for the night.
I was really tired when I got to Thixendale due to the lack of sleep last night. I was really pleased to get in my room just after 3pm (after knocking on the pub door - didn't open until 5). I had a shower , a cup of tea, and got in bed for a couple of hours .....heaven!!! Huge bowl of bangers and mash for supper followed by a great nights sleep. |
Brilliant day. I absolutely loved it. About 14.5 miles.
