Monsal Dale, Millers Dale , High Dale May 31 2019

This is a walk a did for the first time a couple of years ago. At the time I said I would definitely do it again. It is a great walk - I am surprised it has taken me a couple of years to get around to doing it again.

I parked at Monsal Head and followed the route above clockwise.

I love the variety of valley and high level walking in this wander. A lovely way to spend Friday afternoon.

Pike O Stickle 19th May 2019

We had a weekend break staying at a lodge on Windemere with Erica , Damien, Maddie, Sebastian, Ben , Rowan and Anne. On the Sunday Ben , Rowan and myself did this walk.

The start point was the NT car park at Great Langdale

From the car park we picked up the Cumbrian Way along the excellent Mickleden valley and then  up to Stake pass.At the top of the pass (just before the cairn) we took the path along Martcrag Moor to the Langdale Pikes. Once reaching the pike it was a short scramble to get to the top. The first time I had been here I wasn't sure about the scramble and never got to the top, so it was great to finally bag this one. The return route was the steep descent via Mark Gate.

Gardom's Edge 16th May 2019

A nice 5 mile wander across to Gardom's Edge.

The start was from Curbar edge car park. We headed out along Baslow edge and then across to the foot of Birchen Edge. The turnoff towards Gardom's Edge was the large boulder which marks the climb up to Birchen Edge trig point. I walked across to Gardom's Edge and found the rock art which is a very well made replica of what was originally there. On the return leg I looped up to White Edge before dropping down back to the car park.

It was good to see the highland cattle back on Baslow Edge.

Whiteless Pike, Rannerdale Knotts 1st May 2019

Last day of this trip before returning home. I packed up camp and then drove over the Honnister pass to aprk at the NT car park at Butternere.

From the car park the navigation to the top of Whiteless Pike and then back down to Rannerdale Knotts was very straightforward.
