It was so hot (up to 30 at times) we just did three short walks :-
1. Aysgarth Falls.
A beautiful stretch of the river Ure. We walked down past Middle falls to Lower falls and then back up to the visitor centre , and on to the upper falls
Probably about 2-3 miles.
2. Aysgarth Village
After cooking on the morning walk, we checked into the Hotel (Aysgarth Falls Hotel), had a shower and Siesta. Around 5 we went for another walk. There was a footpath from the hotel across the fields to Aysgarth Village. After a short stretch through the Village we picked up another footpath down to the river and then back along the river for another half mile before picking up the same footpath back to the hotel.
About 2 miles.
3 Bolton Castle, an then Hardraw Falls
In n attempt to avoid the heat we visited Bolton Castle in the morning and then drove over to Hardraw to visit the falls in the afternoon. The castle was excellent , and although not strictly a 'walk; we covered quite a bit of ground around the castle itself and the gardens.

The walk to Hardraw falls from the village was only a few hundred yards but worth the visit, although the £2.50 fee ( it is on private land) is a bit steep !!
