Pennine Way Day 18. Bellingham to Byrness 25/05/2025

There was no breakfast provided at the Cheviot Hotel where I had a restful stay, so I had bought extra food at the Co Op the night before.

Track through the Forest

Today was a bit more remote than yesterday with some more climbling to do crossing the tops of Deer Play , Whitley Pike and Padon Hill, and then a tricky , steep muddy ascent along the side of the woods before entering Redesdale Forest. Weather was pretty good apart from some short , showers. At one point, in less than a minute I was soaked down my left side and dry down my right side !

Total Ascent  - 2600 feet

Total Descent -  2200 feet

Distance  - 16 Miles

Day 18 Clips

I et up with Ian for the last few miles. He was doing the PW in one go rather than sections. When we got to the Foresters View Hotel we met up with some other Pennine Wayfarers. What a great stop off - good food , good company , run by the lovely Laura and Ollie.
