Knowing that today was going to be 17 mile with plenty of ups and downs and that I had to catch a train at 4PM I set of at 6AM.
As I left Kildale the trail started climbing up through the woods to Easby Moor. Although it was raining, there was no wind so I soonhad to remove some of the layers I had set out wearing.

Another climb and then tarmo along Great Ayton Moor as Roseberry Topping came into view.
To get to Roseberry Topping involved a descent of the moor before the steep pull up to the summit.

After returning to the moor and a slight navigation problem I had to negotiate a fell race all running in the opposite direction to me. 400 runners on a 55 mile race - bonkers!!
After this was more moorland walking before entering Guisborough woods. From here the trail eventually dropped down to Slapewath where I had a hot meal at the Fox and Hounds. This was a great stop as my energy had been dipping for the last few miles. After Slapewath there was five miles of agricultural paths and then urban walking through Skelton befre reaching Saltburn on Sea. The route through Skelton was rubbish - I got lost several times.

Arrive in town with 90 minutes to spare, so time to get more food. Train was on time , but the journey was long involving three changes and a bus journey from York to Leeds. Got back to Langley Mill about 8:40 where Anne picked me up.
Ascent :- 2428 ft
