I have now done this excellent walk a few times on my own, but this time I was with my eldest and youngest sons Ben and Rowan. This was our practice hike for next weeks White to Dark Peak trek.

This is a route from Paul Beesleys Dark Peak walks. In summary :-
- Start at Chatsworth House Car Park (had to pre book due to pandemic restrictions)
- Along the river footpath to Baslow
- Up Bar Road to Baslow Edge
- Wellington's Monument
- Over Sheffield Road and across the moor to trig point on Birchen Edge
- Nelsons Monument and three ships for lunch
- Drop down from edge to Robin Hood pub
- Cross road and follow permissive path to Gibbet Moor
- Along edge to Gibbet moor to Hob Hurst House
- Turn right and follow footpath down to the edge of the Chatsworth Estate
- Back to the car park via the Hunting Tower

Despite the tooth ache Rowan had from about mid way it was a brilliant hike in perfect walking conditions.
